Summer is a great opportunity to practice your musical talents.
There are great offerings out there that will help you stay sharp and even help you get better on your playing.

Since 1999 this week-long workshop brings together jazz music students of all ages for a week at the Stanley Middle School in Lafayette. Under the guidance of top professional musicians from around the country, “campers” join in small combos to learn and rehearse jazz pieces with emphasis on improvisational performance, participate in instrumental master classes and jazz music theory classes, and choose other free choice classes in a variety of jazz related topics. The workshop culminates in a Friday evening concert, open to the public, in which all of the combos present live performances of music they have worked on during the week.

Livermore Amador Summer Youth Orchestra. A summer orchestra established by the Symphony Association, is open to musicians ages 11 (or in 6th grade) through 21 who play violin, viola, cello, string bass, flute, piccolo, oboe, English horn, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, horn, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, tuba, harp, timpani, or percussion (and possible harp).
