Parent Meeting Jan. 18, 2017
SUMMARY OF GENERAL BAND BOOSTER MEETING - Wed. 1/18/17
Board Positions Open for Next School Year:
The WRIMB Board has the following positions open for the next school year. Please contact Lara Qureshi if you are interested in filling a position:
Hart Beat Dinner - April 22, 2017:
The Hart Beat Dinner is the second of our yearly fundraisers. Mr. A firmly believes the best way to raise money for the Band & Strings program at Hart is to feature the music of our amazing students while having fun - no cookie dough or magazine sales. The Hart Beat Dinner is our main fundraiser and it’s a lot of fun. It will be held at the Pleasanton Senior Center on Sat. April 22. All students perform, plus there will be a live and silent auction as well as everyone’s favorite game - Head or Tail, Dessert Dash, Mexican cuisine with a bar. Tickets will go on sale at the beginning of March.
What You Can Do to Help with Hart Beat Dinner & Auction:
Changes in the Hart Music Program in 2017-18 School Year
There will be a new “Wind Ensemble” class next school year. Auditions are required each year for this class. Students of all grades are eligible to audition. Our instrumental program is growing each year and this new class will allow for the classes to be more balanced in the teacher to student ratio.
The Hart Band program schedule will look as follows:
Intermediate Band – For all incoming 6th graders
Concert Band – For 7th graders
Symphonic Band – For 8th Graders
Wind Ensemble – Audition to enter class
Jazz Band – Audition to enter class
No changes for Hart Strings Programs
On the class selection form that you will be getting in the Spring for next year, Wind Ensemble will not be a choice. Your student should select the band he/she will be in by grade and if they make the Wind Ensemble band, their schedule will be adjusted.
2018 Band & Strings Trip - HAWAII
This band & strings trip is for ALL 8th grade Symphonic Band and Strings 3 students in the 2017-18 school year. It also includes the Jazz Band and the Wind Ensemble. Please see more information here.
And if you are looking at the attached PDF with the slides (see button below) from the meeting last night, you may be wondering what the last two slides are. Mr. A was asked to be the Band Liaison for Penn State Band at the Rose Bowl over the Winter Break. He got photos taken with the USC cheerleaders and at the ESPN broadcast desk. So if any of you were watching the Rose Bowl and thought you saw someone who looked like Mr. A in the end zone, it probably was!
