Audition

Students who will be 7th or 8th grade in the fall 2021 may submit an audition for Jazz Band as well as Wind Ensemble (Symphonic Band for 7th grade). Wind Ensemble is by audition only for 7th and 8th grade students. 7th graders may also be placed into Symphonic based on audition. 7th graders who do not audition will be placed into Concert Band. 8th graders who do not audition will be placed into Symphonic Band. Students who audition will be placed in the most appropriate band for their ability and instrumentation needs (balance) of the group.

Jazz is open to students in 7th and 8th grade by audition. Jazz students will take another music class (band, strings, or choir) in addition to Jazz.

Students who want to audition should join this Google Classroom for complete instructions and sheet music. Class code: 2o6lejh

For questions, contact Ms. McClimon, smcclimon@pleasantonusd.net. Auditions with solos and scales must be uploaded to FlipGrid by March 12 (Fri); late auditions will not be accepted. Auditions will not be visible to others. Audition results will not be posted; you will be placed into the appropriate class - check your schedule in August. Good luck! 7th graders who are currently in Wind Ensemble or Jazz Band do NOT need to re-audition but need to notify Ms McClimon of intent to stay in Wind Ensemble by March 12 using this form.
